Summer Film Series: 35mm is Back!
35mm is a series of unique film-going experiences — each designed to showcase the power of film. Music, film and art all merge to create an all-around engaging and enlightening experience. This summer film series will be held the second Tuesday of every month (May – August) at W Hotel San Diego, 421 West B Street.

May – 35mm: Movement
A unique film-going experience, May's 35mm: Movement event, held Tuesday, May 13 at W San Diego Hotel, will showcase the power of film to transform apathy to activism. The evening will feature a special screening of the latest documentary from San Diego's own Invisible Children organization. Meet staff from the Invisible Children's team, ask questions, and learn how you can be a part of the movement to make a change in Uganda. Invisible Children DVD's and merchandise will be available for sale. One Peroni Italian beer and popcorn are complimentary. A $5 donation to the San Diego Film Foundation is suggested.
June – 35mm: Offshore
A unique film-going experience, June's 35mm: Offshore event, held Tuesday, June 10 at W San Diego Hotel, will showcase the power of film to showcase passion and commitment in the surfing world. Local filmmakers and surfing-pros will premiere short documentaries based on their lives and love of the ocean. Sand sculpture experts will create masterpieces in front of your eyes, live music and tons of raffle prizes including swim suits, surfboards, surfing lessons and much more will be given out to lucky attendees. One Peroni Italian beer and popcorn are complimentary. A $5 donation to the San Diego Film Foundation is suggested.
July – 35mm: Green
A unique film-going experience, July's 35mm: Green event, held Tuesday, July 8 at W San Diego Hotel, will showcase the simple things people around the world are doing to make our planet "green." Short documentaries highlighting topics from global warming to recycling will enlighten and inspire you to take action, right in your own home. One Peroni Italian beer and popcorn are complimentary. A $5 donation to the San Diego Film Foundation is suggested.
August – 35mm: Soundtrack
A unique film-going experience, Augusts' 35mm: Soundtrack event, held Tuesday, August 12 at W San Diego Hotel, will rock your world, showcasing music videos, band behind the scenes, and the story of life on the road. Meet filmmakers and band members, make musical instruments, and rock to live entertainment. One Peroni Italian beer and popcorn are complimentary. A $5 donation to the San Diego Film Foundation is suggested.
The San Diego Film Foundation, an educational 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that produces the annual San Diego Film Festival and Screenwriting Contest, aims to Intrigue, ignite and, bringing greater exposure and appreciation of independent film. The Foundation was established to create and implement film programs in partnership with local filmmakers, businesses, educational institutions and nonprofit social organizations.
This year, the San Diego Film Foundation introduces a Cultural Series that offers film -- related special events for the months leading up to the Film Festival. We'll be bringing you seminars with filmmakers and screenwriters, anniversary and archival screenings and many more special engagements.
